Davey Havok's Journal

I'm not really sure where to begin, but they always say the best place is at the beginning, so...

My name is Davey Havok [mostly just Dave or Davey] and in case you don't already know, I'm the vocalist of AFI, which stands for A Fire Inside. Writing lyrics and creating music is the best way for me to express what I'm feeling, so naturally my band is my life even though I've done a few projects on the side [Blaqk Audio and Son of Sam, for instance].

I can't really say that my focus is mainly on one genre of music over another, because AFI has a general audience ranging from the death metal kids to the more punk-oriented, and maybe that's why so many people consider us an acquired taste.

Personally, as long as I'm doing what I love and have the full support of my beloved Fall Children behind me, I could care less what the world thinks. As far as our band philosophy goes, we fully back the SxE [Straight-Edge for those of you who don't know] movement and are vegans, not because we love animals, but "because we hate plants"

Aside from that, I guess all you really need to know about me is that I love my music, try to lead as clean a life as possible [no drugs, no alcohol, nothing self-destructive], and can actually be a pretty easy-going guy. I don't consider myself intimidating at all.
